As a freshman, Simmerman was named First Team All-MIAA after finishing the fall season third in scoring average among all conference golfers. The team finished in third place in the conference by just three strokes. In her second season, she was again a First Team All-MIAA selection while finishing just one stroke behind the season medalist in 2002 as the Belles captured their first MIAA title.

In the spring of 2003, the Belles made their first appearance in the NCAA Division III Golf Championships, and Simmerman embraced her opportunity to shine. The sophomore became the College’s first, and currently only, national champion as she took home the individual title and earned All-American honors. The team finished in fourth place at the NCAA Championships that spring as the first MIAA women’s golf team to compete on the national stage.

Her success from that spring carried over into the fall as she became the program’s first MIAA season medalist. The team captured their second consecutive conference championship, and Simmerman was an All-MIAA First Team selection yet again. That spring, the Belles made their second straight trip to the NCAA Championships. The team finished eighth and was led by a tie-for-12th place individual finish by Simmerman.

During her senior campaign, she finished just three strokes behind teammate Julia Adams in the MIAA final scoring standings on her way to a fourth First Team All-MIAA honor. She is just one of two athletes in the history of Saint Mary’s Athletics to be on her sport’s highest All-MIAA team for all four seasons. As a team, the Belles captured their third consecutive MIAA Championship, this time by a margin of 70 strokes over second place Olivet.

In the team’s third straight trip to the NCAA Championships, the Belles finished sixth as Simmerman became the program’s first two-time All-American. In her final rounds of collegiate golf, she matched her 2004 finish at nationals by tying for 12th place individually.

Over the course of her career, she was the medalist of an MIAA round on three occasions. She set or matched a school record on four instances, helped the team to five school records, and had a hand in several individual and team MIAA records. It is no surprise that she was the 2005 recipient of the Athletic Department’s Marvin Wood Outstanding Senior Athlete Award.

In addition to golf, she served as one of her team’s representatives on the Student-Athlete Advisory Committee throughout her career. She was also a Saint Mary’s representative for the MIAA Student-Athlete Advisory Committee, where she served as the President.

Simmerman graduated in May 2005 with a degree in business administration with a concentration in finance. She currently works as the online marketing manager for Corinthian Colleges, Inc., managing their marketing budget for their online schools.
