Marvin Wood served as the head basketball coach from 1984-1996. Also known for his Milan High School team’s state championship which inspired the movie Hoosiers, Coach Wood led Saint Mary’s to a postseason tournament victory in just his third season. He went on to lead the team to more than 100 wins during his time at Saint Mary’s. The top senior athlete who exemplifies the attributes that he stood for is honored annually with the Marvin Wood Outstanding Senior Athlete Award.
