From her first step onto a pool deck in 2000, Ramsey made an immediate impact on the Saint Mary’s swimming and diving program that is unparalleled today. As a freshman, she finished third individually in the 500 freestyle and was a part of a third place finishing 800 freestyle relay at the MIAA Championships. In what would be her marquee stroke, Ramsey was a third place finisher in the 100 butterfly and took second in the 200 butterfly in that same meet on her way to becoming the first swimmer in school history to earn All-MIAA honors.
In her sophomore season, she continued to make it to championship heats of the MIAA Championship swim meet and took home three more placements - a trio of individual third place finishes in the 500 free, 100 fly, and 200 fly. Along with staking a claim to the school record in the 200 freestyle during the season, she was an All-MIAA selection based on her performance at the league’s season-ending event.
Ramsey’s junior campaign was one figuratively and literally for the history books. In three days’ time at the MIAA Championships, she was a part of three school records. She swam the lead leg of the record-setting 400 free relay and was the anchor of a school record performance by the 800 free relay. But before either of those two evenings, she made the biggest splash by an individual Saint Mary’s swimmer on the conference stage with a school record and individual MIAA title-clinching effort in the 100 butterfly. Her NCAA B cut time of 1:00.08 still stands today as the fastest time posted in the 100 fly by a Belle.
With her third All-MIAA selection in tow, Ramsey then had a chance to achieve something that no one else in school history had achieved up to that point - to be named All-MIAA for all four seasons of a collegiate career. After finishing fourth in a pair of events and second in the 500 free at the conference championship meet, she further etched herself as one of the elite swimmers to come to this campus by becoming the first four-time All-MIAA Saint Mary’s athlete. In her four years, she was a part of 12 top-five best swimming times in program history. She was named the Athletic Department’s recipient of both the 2004 Marvin Wood Outstanding Senior Athlete Award and Academic and Athletic Achievement Award.
In addition to her athletic successes, Ramsey was a four-time MIAA Honor Roll student while also garnering Academic All-American honors.
Ramsey graduated magna cum laude in May 2004 with a degree in philosophy as well as with minors in both biology and chemistry. She is currently an internal medical resident at St. Vincent Hospital in Indianapolis.
