Cathy Maddox Blum was instrumental in establishing basketball as a varsity sport. A two-year member of the first and undefeated club basketball teams, she hit the game-winning free throws against Notre Dame in the inaugural 1975-76 season. The team was 10-3 during her senior year and earned a second place ranking in the state. A team captain, she was the Mental Attitude Award winner in the 1976-77 season.
