Alyssa Grant (Oak Lawn, IL) and Tennis junior
Anna Gardner (Houston, TX) were named Belles Athletes of the Week after leading their teams to exceptional performances this weekend.
Grant helped lead the Belles to a 13-9 win over Aquinas College in their season opener on Saturday. Grant made her return to the field after a year off scoring an incredible eight goals, the most goals scored by a Belle in a game since 2021. Grant scored her eight goals with 11 shots and 10 shots on goal to lead Saint Mary's to an early 1-0 record.
Gardner went 4-0 on the weekend in the Belles two 6-1 wins over Carthage College and Indiana University Kokomo. Gardner earned two singles wins, one at number two vs Carthage and at number one vs IU Kokomo. She also earned two wins at the number three doubles match. Gardner improved to 12-5 on the season while earning her sixth straight doubles win.
Grant and the Belles hit the road on Tuesday, February 24, as they head to Chicago, IL for a matchup with Illinois Tech at 5pm est.
Gardner and the Belles head on the road on Friday, February 27, as they head east to take on the College of Wooster and #18 Case Western Reserve University. They then return home on Sunday, March 1, to host Oberlin College and Saint Francis University at Eastlake Athletic Center in Elkhart, IN.
