NOTRE DAME, Ind. - Saint Mary's College Golf sophomore Melanie Maier (Richmond, TX) has been named Belles Athlete of the Week for her on course performance last week.

Maier helped lead the Belles to a win at the second MIAA Jamboree of the fall at The Medalist Club in Marshall, MI. Maier took home joint medalist honors after shooting a one-over 73.

Her 73 ties her collegiate low 18-hole score while this was also the third MIAA individual victory of her career for the reigning MIAA Most Valuable Golfer. Maier tallied four birdies on the day, taking her as low as three-under par while shooting a three-under 33 on the front nine.

"Since the day she stepped onto Saint Mary's campus, Melanie has been a key and vital role to our team's success." said Saint Mary's Golf Head Coach Kristin Holt. "She handles herself very well both on and off the course and it has been amazing to have her on our team."

Maier and the Belles finish off the fall season on Saturday, October 11, at the final MIAA Jamboree at Pine River Country Club in Alma, MI. Saint Mary's currently holds a three-stroke lead over Trine University after their win at Monday's MIAA Jamboree.
