GOSHEN, Ind. - Saint Mary's College Softball fell in both games of their Friday double header at Goshen College, 2-0 in game one and 7-2 in game two. The Belles fall to 2-4 on the season.

Game One
Goshen got on the board in the first inning to take an early 1-0 lead off an RBI single. Saint Mary's had two strong scoring chances in the second and fourth innings, including having a runner thrown out at home in the fourth. The Belles could not capitalize on the opportunities, leaving multiple runners on base. The Maple Leafs tacked on another run in the bottom of the fourth inning, and that concluded the scoring for both teams in the game.Â

Saint Mary's had another scoring opportunity in the top of the fifth, tallying two hits while leaving two more runners on base.

Senior
Sam Mikitka (Naperville, IL), junior
Allie Moss (Goshen, IN), and sophomore
Talia Jorgensen (St. Paul, MN) all tallied a hit for the Belles while sophomore
Gia Schiavone (Poland, OH) drew two walks.

In the circle, Mikitka threw all six innings, allowing just six hits on the day and the two runs while walking zero.

Game Two
Goshen stayed hot offensively in game two, scoring five runs in the first two innings. Saint Mary's got on the board for the first time of the day after Schiavone drew a leadoff walk in the fourth inning and Mikitka doubled to right center field to bring her around to score. The Maple Leafs would also tack on two more runs in the bottom of the fourth to extend their lead.

In the fifth, sophomore
Hunter St. Peter (Traverse City, MI) led off the inning with a single. After a sacrifice bunt from freshman
Molly Ryan (Joliet, IL), Moss singled up the middle to advance St. Peter to third. After Moss stole second, Jorgensen grounded out to the first baseman, allowing St. Peter to come in to score. Both teams finished the game quietly, as Goshen closed out their 7-2 win.

Moss and Jorgensen both tallied two hits in game two while Moss and Mikitka both doubled. Mikitka and Jorgensen tallied an RBI each.

Sophomore
Ashlyn Yeo (Jackson, MI) started the game in the circle for the Belles, throwing four innings and striking out one batter. Junior
Sammy Schrader (Romeoville, IL) closed out the final two innings, sitting down all six of her batters faced in just 15 pitches.

UP NEXT FOR THE BELLES
Saint Mary's heads south for their annual Spring Break trip, playing 10 games across five days. The Belles kick off play in Melbourne, FL on Monday, March 9 as they take on Lakeland University and the University of Wisconsin-Superior. They then continue play on Tuesday against Marietta College and Emerson College.
