While the Department of Athletics at Saint Mary's College recognizes the importance of social media interaction between coaching staff and prospective student-athletes during the recruiting process, the nature of those connections should also adapt once a prospective student-athlete becomes an enrolled student-athlete at the College.

As such, the members of the Department of Athletics are expected to unfriend/unfollow any enrolled student-athletes and maintain that status for the remainder of the student-athletes' time enrolled at the College. This form allows you (the student-athlete) to decide whether or not you would like team accounts to tag you in content that is created. If at any time you decide to change your preferences, please re-submit this form and send a follow-up email to the Sports Information Office ( thollowell@saintmarys.edu).

The next section of this form gives you the opportunity to opt in or opt out of the College-affliated accounts from tagging you on specific platforms. Interaction between current student-athletes and Department of Athletics personnel on social media accounts is limited solely to tagging a student-athlete in a College-created post. Your yes or no response is whether or not you are giving your permission for the accounts to tag you on those specific social media platforms (e.g. The Belles took a big win today thanks to this game-winning goal by @smcbelles against City College!)

This final section allows you to give your permission for your coach / team account to share your birthday publicly on social media. All Personally Identifiable Information (PII) requires special permission prior to publishing of sharing. Birthdays are one of many types of PII identified by the Family Education Rights and Privacy Act of 1974 (FERPA).
