BRIGHTON, Mich. - Saint Mary's College Volleyball senior
Caroline Carens (Naperville, IL) was named Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association Offensive Player of the Week after her contributions to the Belles first week of play.

Carens helped lead the Belles to a 3-2 record to open the season including an impressive 3-1 record at the Jenny McDowell Invitational hosted by Emory University. Carens tallied at least 15 kills in four of five games to open the season, adding 15 against Pfeiffer College, 16 against Manchester University and LaGrange College, and a high of 17 against Oglethorpe University. Carens also impressively hit above .400 in all four matches while hitting a best of .545 against Pfeiffer.

Defensively, Carens led the team in blocks as she added multiple in every game and tallied six against both Manchester and LaGrange. She also added three service aces and 18 digs to go with her performance.

In total, Carens finished the weekend with 71 kills while hitting .393 and adding 20 total blocks for 86.5 points in her 19 sets played.

Saint Mary's is back in action on the road on September 9 as they travel to Lisle, IL to take on Benedictine University at 6pm CST. The Belles return home on September 15 when they host Kalamazoo College for a non-conference matchup at 7pm.
