Belles Bow Out of MIAA Tournament

ADRIAN, Mich. - Saint Mary's College Lacrosse fell in the first round of the MIAA Tournament at Adrian College on Saturday, 16-7. The Belles finish the season 10-7 while the Bulldogs improve to 12-4.
 
Adrian got the scoring started with back-to-back goals to open the game. Saint Mary's bounced back quickly as junior Kathryn Kalinowski (Atlanta, GA) got the scoring started just over 30 seconds after Adrian's second. Senior Alyssa Grant (Oak Lawn, IL) followed that up with a goal less than two minutes later to tie the game for the Belles. Junior Kelsey King (Sylvania, OH) then quickly gave the Belles their first lead of the game as she found the back of the net from a pass from freshman June McMahon (River Forest, IL) to take a one goal lead. The Bulldogs would bounce back to the tie game with just a couple minutes left in the quarter, going into the quarter break tied 3-3.
 
Sophomore Piper Downey (Northbrook, IL) got things going quick for Saint Mary's in quarter two. Downey got on the scoresheet just over a minute into the quarter with an assist from Kalinowski. Adrian would tack on three unanswered goals to head into halftime with a 6-4 lead.
 
The Bulldogs continued their hot streak in the third quarter, putting up three more unanswered goals to extend their lead. The Belles got on the scoreboard in the second half in the final minutes of the third quarter and McMahon got her first goal of the day. Adrian went into the final quarter with a 9-5 advantage.
 
Adrian added two more goals in the first 70 seconds of the final quarter before McMahon would add her second goal of the day, this time assisted by Grant. The Bulldogs added a pair of goals before sophomore Annabelle Spruill (Brookhaven, GA) got on the scoresheet with an assist from Kalinowski. Adrian added three more goals to close out their opening MIAA Tournament win, 16-7.
 
McMahon led the team with two goals on the afternoon while adding an assist while Kalinowski led with two assists while adding a goal. The two would both finish with a team high three points while Grant added two points with one goal and assist.
 
Junior Sophia Delgado (Indianapolis, IN) and freshman Ella Klingerman (Noblesville, IN) led the team with two caused turnovers each while Klingerman and Kalinowski added a team high two draw controls each.
 
In goal, sophomore Kaya Seaboy (Evansville, IN) tied a career high 15 saves on the game while facing 38 total shots. Seaboy also added a team high four ground balls.
