GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. - Saint Mary's College Soccer fell to 20th ranked Calvin University, 4-0, on Saturday. The Belles fall to 3-5-1 (0-2 MIAA) while the Knights improve to 8-1 (2-0 MIAA).
The Saint Mary's defense put up a strong showing in the first half for the Belles as they held the 20th ranked Knights scoreless in the first 45 minutes for a 0-0 standstill at halftime. Calvin would outshoot Saint Mary's 20-0 in the first half but couldn't find the back of the net as the Belles back line held strong. Sophomore goalkeeper Meghan Krayer (Hinsdale, IL) headed the defense as she tallied an impressive eight saves in the first half alone.
Calvin's offensive momentum would flow into the second half as they would find the back of the net to take their first lead less than five minutes into the half. The Knights would continue a strong offensive showing as they doubled their lead to 2-0 in the 66th minute. They wouldn't stop as they added a third goal in the 76th minute and a fourth in the 83rd, closing out their 4-0 win.
Krayer would finish the day with a career high 10 saves on the afternoon while facing 38 total shots.

Saint Mary's travels to the University of Olivet to continue MIAA play on Tuesday with a 4pm kickoff. The Belles return home on October 10 as they host Trine University at 11am.
