NOTRE DAME, Ind. - Saint Mary's College Lacrosse fell to Hope College in their regular season finale on Tuesday, 22-4. The Belles fall to 5-10 (2-5 MIAA) on the year while the Flying Dutch improve to 10-5 (6-0 MIAA).
Hope would start out strong, taking a 12-0 lead in the first 26 minutes of the game. Saint Mary's would get on the board in the final minute of the first half as senior Paige Lyons (Hinsdale, IL) would score on a free position shot.
The Belles would keep momentum heading into the second half as senior Valentina Rubio (Wayland, MI) would score just 30 seconds into the half. The Flying Dutch would then add six more goals in the third quarter.
Saint Mary's would add back-to-back goals early in the fourth quarter as sophomore Cate Krema (Western Springs, IL) would add a goal before Rubio would add her second goal of the night. Hope would then add four more to close out their victory.
Rubio would add two goals to her season total while Lyons and Krema would each add one. Sophomore Cate Shepherd (Bay Village, OH) would lead the team with five ground balls and two caused turnovers.
Senior goalkeeper Emma Zmudzinski (Granger, IN) would tally 12 saves on the day, her sixth time surpassing double-digit saves.

Saint Mary's awaits their fate for the MIAA Championships. The Belles currently sit in a tie for fifth place with Adrian College and Albion College. The top six teams make the conference tournament.
