NEWBERG, Ore. - Saint Mary's College Lacrosse fell to George Fox University on Thursday, 15-3, to conclude their west coast trip. The Belles fall to 1-3 on the year while the Bruins improve to 4-1.
George Fox would take a quick 6-0 lead in the first quarter before Saint Mary's would get on the board with a goal from sophomore Rachel Speckhard (Munster, IN). The goal was assisted by sophomore Kathryn Kalinowski (Atlanta, GA). The Bruins would score another to go into the first break leading 7-1.
George Fox would add four goals in the second quarter to go into halftime with an 11-1 lead.
The Bruins would add another quick goal to open the second half before the Belles would add another with the first goal of the season for senior Valentina Rubio (Wayland, MI) from a free position shot.
George Fox would add three more goals in the fourth quarter before Rubio would score her second free position shot of the game.
Rubio would lead the team with two goals while Speckhard would add one, bringing her season total to eight. Kalinowski would be the only Belle to record an assist. Rubio would lead the team with four shots. Freshman Piper Downey (Northbrook, IL) would lead the team with seven ground balls.
Senior goalkeeper Emma Zmudzinski (Granger, IN) would make 10 saves in her three quarters of work while freshman goalkeeper Kaya Seaboy (Evansville, IN) would make three saves in the fourth quarter.
UP NEXT FOR THE BELLES
After returning from the west coast, Saint Mary's will travel to Aurora University on March 19 for a 5pm matchup with the Spartans. The Belles will then travel to Anderson University on March 22 before returning home to host their home opener on March 26 against North Central College at 5pm.
