Belles Fall in Homestand Opener to Flying Dutch

NOTRE DAME, Ind. - Saint Mary's College Basketball fell to Hope College on Wednesday night, 79-41. The Belles fall to 4-16 (1-10 MIAA) while the Flying Dutch improve to 18-3 (11-1 MIAA).

Hope got out to a fiery start and never looked back in the game, they would go into the first break leading 22-8. The Flying Dutch would outshoot the Belles 50% to 27% in the quarter.

Saint Mary's would continue to struggle from the field in the second quarter, shooting just 22% and trailing 38-13 at the half. Sophomore Annie Restovich (Wildwood, MO) would lead the Belles with five points at the break. 

The Belles would come out hot to open the second half as they would almost triple their point total in the third quarter, outscoring Hope, 22-21. Sophomore Kate Restovich (Wildwood, MO) would lead Saint Mary's with eight points in the quarter, bringing her total to 10 on the night.

The Flying Dutch would come out dominating the fourth quarter, shooting 67%, to close out the Belles, 79-41.

Kate Restovich led the Belles with 12 points while Annie Restovich would add 10. Freshman Kate Passinault (Grand Rapids, MI) would grab a team high four rebounds while Kate Restovich would dish out a team high three assists.

UP NEXT FOR THE BELLES

Saint Mary's continues the homestand on Saturday, February 8, when they host Kalamazoo College for a 1pm tipoff. The Belles were victorious in the first meeting with the Hornets, winning 65-54. Senior Julia Schutz (Dyer, IN) would put up 20 points for the Belles in the win.
