Box Score NOTRE DAME, Ind. - Saint Mary's College Volleyball celebrated their annual Red Glasses Game on Tuesday night, but fell to Alma College in the conference opener, 3-0. The Belles fall to 12-3 (0-1 MIAA) while the Scots improved to 8-9 (1-0 MIAA)

Both teams battled back and forth in the first set but Alma would come out victorious, 25-20. The Scots would have a 13-11 lead in kills over the Belles in the set while hitting an incredible .400 in the set alone. Junior
Caroline Carens (Naperville, IL) tallied five kills in the set for the Belles while hitting .571 on her own.

The second set finished even closer as the teams constantly traded points throughout the set. But the Scots would come out victorious, 25-22, while outkilling the Belles, 13-10. Senior
Grace Braselton (Grand Rapids, MI) added five kills to her total in the set while freshman
Shannon Rudge (Granger, IN) added four as they both brought their total to six on the match.

Saint Mary's seemed like they were controlling the third set as they got ahead of Alma early, but multiple short runs kept the Scots in the set. While the Scots got ahead, looking to close out the match, the Belles made a quick run to make it a one point set. But the Scots were able to close out the set and the match, 25-23, taking the win in the conference opener.

Carens would lead the team with 11 kills on the night while hitting an impressive .391 throughout the match. Rudge and sophomore
Kalli Lewkowski (Spring Lake, MI) added seven kills each. Sophomore
Giuliana Graczyk (Chicago, IL) led the Belles with 16 assists while junior
Abby Reese (Elkhart, IN) added 14.

Saint Mary's will host Hope College on Friday, October 3, starting at 7pm for their annual Dig Pink Game. The Belles then head on the road for three straight matches at Trine University, Calvin University, and a non-conference matchup at Elmhurst University.
