Box Score KALAMAZOO, Mich. - Saint Mary's College Soccer fell to Kalamazoo College in their MIAA opener on Tuesday night, 2-0. The Belles fall to 6-1-2 (0-1 MIAA) while the Hornets improve to 7-3-1 (1-0 MIAA).

Kalamazoo jumped out to an early lead as they found the back of the net in the ninth minute of the first half. This was just the fourth goal allowed by Saint Mary's this season.

While both teams' offenses continued to put pressure on the defenses, a solid back line for both teams showed strong throughout the first half. Until the Hornets struck again with less than two minutes remaining in the first half to go into the halftime break with a 2-0 lead. Kalamazoo would lead the Belles in total shots in the first half, 9-5, but the teams were equal in shots on goal, 4-4.

Defense would be the story of the second half for both teams as the Belles and Hornets would be held scoreless for the final 45 minutes and Kalamazoo would secure the win in the conference opener.Â

Eleah Hedstrom (St. Joseph, MI) led the Belles in shots with three and shots on goal with two. Sophomore
Isabella Kreydich (Tinley Park, IL) would also add two shots of her own. Freshman goalkeeper
Meghan Krayer (Hinsdale, IL) would make her third straight start and made nine saves on the night.

UP NEXT FOR THE BELLES
Saint Mary's returns home to open a three game homestand on Saturday, October 4, as they host Calvin University at 1pm. The Belles will also host Adrian College on October 11 and the University of Olivet on October 14.
