BRISTOL, Wis. - The Saint Mary's golf team shot a 329 and edged conference foe Calvin for third place at the Carthage Battle on the Border in the season's first tournament.
Host Carthage won the tournament with a two-day score of 609. Wisconsin-Whitewater was second with a 649 while the Belles posted a 36-hole score of 664. Calvin placed fourth with a 668. Adrienne Rohwedder from Carthage claimed the individual title with a 75 on Saturday and a two-day score of 143 at Bristol Oaks Country Club.
Sydney Hruskoci led the Belles with a 74 and finished fifth overall with a two-day total of 157.
Erin Bennett shot an 83 on day two and took 14th overall with a 164.
Katherine Hopkins shot an 85 while
Haley Angel posted an 87 to round out the team score. Hopkins finished the tournament with a share of 28th after a 36-hole score of 172. Angel tied for 34th in the field with a 174 over the weekend.
Katelyn Tokarz was the fifth golfer in the Belles' lineup and shot an 88 on Saturday. The freshman tied for 28th overall with a 172.
Joanna James competed as an individual at the event and fired an 82 on day two while finishing tied for 12th overall (163).
The Belles are back in action next weekend at the Olivet College Kyle Campbell Memorial Invitational, which takes place Friday and Saturday at the Medalist Golf Club.
