MARSHALL, Mich. - The Saint Mary's golf team shot a 324 and are in third place after day one of the Olivet College Kyle Campbell Memorial Invitational at the Medalist Golf Club.
Conference foe Hope holds first place after posting a 315 on day one. Westminster edged the Belles for second place on the day with a 323. The Belles posted a 324, and Aquinas and DePauw each hold a share of fourth place after 332s. Hope's Rita Cheney, who is playing as an individual, shot a 73 to lead the field on day one.
Sydney Hruskoci led the Belles with a 77 on Friday and is in sixth place overall. The senior co-captain had a birdie, eleven pars, and was one-over on both par three and par five holes.
Katherine Hopkins shot a collegiate career-best 79 and holds a share of ninth place. Hopkins shared round-high honors with 13 pars and was tied for the sixth-best scoring average on par four holes.
Katelyn Tokarz shot an 81 and is tied for 18th overall. The freshman had nine pars and was among the round's leaders in both par four and par five scoring.
Erin Bennett rounded out the team score with an 87 and is tied for 36th.
Joanna James is the fifth golfer in the lineup and shot an 89 to tie for 53rd.
Ashley Brewster and
Haley Angel are both competing as individuals at the tournament. Brewster shot an 84 and is tied for 21st after carding nine pars and finishing two-over on par five holes. Angel turned in an 84 and holds a share of 27th overall while tying for the third-best par three scoring average.
Day two tees off at 8:30 a.m. on Saturday at the Medalist Golf Club.
