Belles Take Second Place at Third MIAA Jamboree

SAUGATUCK, Mich. - The Saint Mary's golf team claimed second place at the third MIAA Jamboree of the season, which was hosted by Hope at Clearbrook Golf Club on Tuesday.
 
Host Hope took first place with a 328 as the Flying Dutch continue to lead the MIAA standings for the fall season. The Belles shot a 335 to finish seven strokes ahead of third-place Trine as the Thunder turned in a 342. Calvin rounded out the top four in the team standings with a 345. Hope's Grace VanDellen was the medalist on the day with a six-over 78.
 
Sydney Hruskoci paced the Belles with a seven-over par 79 to take a share of second place overall. The senior co-captain had two birdies and nine pars while going one-under on par five holes. Katelyn Tokarz shot an 83 and tied for seventh on the day. Tokarz shared team-high and round-high honors with ten pars while leading the field in par four scoring.
 
Joanna James carded an 86 for a share of 16th. James also put ten pars on her scorecard in the round. Ashley Brewster wrapped up the team score with an 87 (t-22nd). Brewster had six pars and was two-over on par five holes. Katherine Hopkins was the fifth golfer in the Belles lineup and shot an 88 to tie for 25th. The junior had nine pars and was two-over on par five holes in the round.
 
Haley Angel and Erin Bennett both competed as individuals at the round. Angel shot an 80 to tie for fourth place while going one-over on par three holes and sinking a pair of birdies. Bennett had an 87 and tied for 22nd. The junior co-captain recorded seven pars and added a birdie.
 
The Belles travel to the fourth MIAA Jamboree of the season on Saturday. The 18-hole round will be hosted by Calvin at the Golf Club at Thornapple Pointe starting at 2:00 p.m.
