KALAMAZOO, Mich. - The Saint Mary's golf team finished in fourth place at the second MIAA Jamboree of the season, which was hosted by Kalamazoo at Milham Park Golf Club.
The top four teams were separated by just four strokes as Hope claimed the overall team win with a 332. Adrian placed second with a 333, and Calvin placed third with a 335. The Belles posted a team score of 336, which was eight strokes ahead of fifth place Alma. Morgan Yates from Alma was the medalist with a two-over par 74.
Katherine Hopkins led the Belles with a 79 on the day to finish tied for fifth overall. The junior led the field in par three scoring on the day with a pair of birdies and was even on par five holes.
Sydney Hruskoci shot an 84 and tied for 14th. Hruskoci notched eight pars and was one-over on par five holes during the round.
Katelyn Tokarz shot an 86 and tied for 19th while
Joanna James wrapped up the team score with an 87 and 22nd place overall. Tokarz was two-over on par three holes in the round. James had a birdie, seven pars, and was one-over on par three holes.
Erin Bennett was the fifth golfer in the lineup for the Belles and shot a 96 while finishing 47th.
Ashley Brewster competed as an individual and carded an 83 to tie for ninth. Brewster posted nine pars, a birdie, and was one-over on par five holes in the round.
Next up for the Belles is the third MIAA Jamboree of the fall season, which takes place on Tuesday, September 29 at Hope College's home course of Clearbrook Golf Club starting at 1:00 p.m.
