Belles Split on Day Two of MIAA/NCAC Challenge

DIMONDALE, Mich. - The Saint Mary's volleyball team picked up a 3-0 (25-20, 25-22, 25-23) win over Allegheny before falling in a 3-2 (27-25, 25-23, 18-25, 22-25, 17-15) nailbiter against Oberlin on day two of the MIAA/NCAA Challenge at Aim High Sports.
 
Megan Collantes led all players with 12 kills in the win over Allegheny while also picking up 11 digs. Nicole Lukens added a double-double with 11 kills and 15 digs. Lindsey Pelletier put away 11 kills and had three block assists. Morgan VanderWey collected 42 assists, and Brittney Tarkanyi chipped in 12 digs. Alyssa Chong posted a .455 attack percentage with five kills on 11 attempts and no errors.
 
In the five-set contest against Oberlin, Lukens shared match-high honors with 20 kills while leading all players with 26 digs. Collantes recorded 11 kills and 23 digs, and Tarkanyi posted 20 digs. Chong had 10 kills with a .429 attack percentage. VanderWey added 32 assists and 14 digs while Claire Hennessy had 19 assists.
 
The Belles (4-3) have their home opener on Wednesday, September 11 when they host Manchester at 7:00 p.m.
