TUCSON, Ariz. - The Saint Mary's softball team bounced back from a 16-10 loss to No. 15 ranked Central (Iowa) to take down Bethany Lutheran in a 5-4 final in Arizona.
Alison Alberts led the offense in game one with a 3-for-4 effort at the dish with an RBI and a run scored.
Krystal Harris was 3-for-5 with a triple, an RBI, and a run, and
Mandi Hettinger added a 2-for-3 showing with a home run, two runs scored, and two RBI.
Maggie Gillis was 2-for-5 with a double, a team-high three RBI, and a run. Hettinger suffered the pitching loss in the circle against the nationally-ranked Dutch.
The Belles picked up their first win of the season in game two by taking down Bethany Lutheran 5-4.
Alyssa Gutierrez went 3-for-3 with a run scored.
Madelynne Keller and
Krystal Harris each tallied two hits. Keller drove in a run and scoring a run while belting a double while Harris drove in a pair.
Zoe Bruni earned the pitching win in game two for the Belles.
The Belles (1-5) face off against St. Scholastica and Mount Mary on Tuesday starting at 12:00 p.m. MST.
