Belles Place Thirteenth at Oberlin Regional Rumble

OBERLIN, Ohio - The Saint Mary's cross country team placed 13th in a field of 29 teams at the Oberlin Regional Rumble on Saturday.

The Belles had a team score of 354 and were 20 points behind 12th place Trine. Host Oberlin, who is ranked 31st nationally, won the event with a 94 while Waynesburg took second with a 96. DePauw placed third with a 167.

Brittany Beeler had a near school-record performance to pace the Belles. The senior turned in a 22:09.3 to cut 20 seconds off of her own personal record while posting the second-fastest 6k time in program history for ninth place overall.

Anna McClowry was 61st overall and claimed 59 points for the team with a personal record 23:15.8 - a 53-second improvement from a PR earlier this season. Adele Edmonds placed 105th while earning 91 points toward the team total with a personal record time of 24:06.0. Reilly Pieri was just behind with another personal record performance as the junior ran a 24:09.3 for 108th and 94 points. Caitlin Blum wrapped up the team scoring-finishes with yet another personal record effort of 24:17.2.

Katie Glenn had a season-best 6k time of 24:20.3 for 122nd place, and Mary Philbin placed 147th in a time of 24:44.6. Maura Honan ran a 24:57.1 for 157th place overall. Colleen Ogren posted a season-best 24:58.9 while placing 160th. Sarah Allen was four seconds back with a 25:02.3 for 164th.

In the Open 6k Race, the Belles continued to have strong times posted. Kaitlyn Alessi ran a 24:45.8 for 15th in the race, and Jen Kreighbaum turned in a 24:56.5 for 23rd. Kathyrn Marshall posted her best 6k time of the season with a 25:36.2 for 37th, and Maggie Pacana was 41st with a season-best 6k of 25:40.7 - just a second off from her personal record at the distance. Fiona Winfrey ran a season-best 25:35.7 for 49th in the race. Mary Favo crossed the finish line in 27:14.9 (86th), and Emily Harrast rounded out the day for the Belles with a 27:39.9 (98th).

The Belles are back to racing in two weeks when they compete in the MIAA Championship race at Albion on October 29.
