FREELAND, Mich. - Saint Mary's senior Nicole Lukens has been selected as the Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association (MIAA) Volleyball Athlete of the Week for her performances from October 28 through November 3.
Lukens, a native of South Bend, Indiana, led the team with 32 kills in a pair of wins over Kalamazoo and Trine as the Belles clinched the final spot in the MIAA Tournament last week. With 20 kills in a key match against Trine, she became the eighth player in Saint Mary's volleyball history to amass 1,000 career kills. She is only the second player to accomplish the feat in three years.
It is the second MIAA Athlete of the Week honor of her career and the first since the 2017 season for the team co-captain.
