Belles Split on Day Two at Forester Invitational

LAKE FOREST, Ill. - The Saint Mary's volleyball team bounced back from a 3-0 (25-21, 25-23, 25-19) setback against Loras to take a 3-1 (25-15, 22-25, 25-22, 25-23) win over Illinois Tech at day two of the Lake Forest Forester Invitational on Saturday.
 
Nicole Lukens registered a double-double against the Duhawks with 10 kills and 15 digs for the Belles. Lindsey Pelletier put down five kills with a .364 attack percentage, and Brittney Tarkanyi posted 10 digs. Morgan VanderWey collected 12 assists, and Claire Hennessy added 11 assists in the match.
 
Lukens added her second double-double in as many matches on the day in the team's victory over Illinois Tech as the senior had 13 kills and 12 digs. Alyssa Chong put down nine kills with a .368 attack percentage and four block assists, and Nola Wallace contributed four block assists and seven kills against the Scarlet Hawks. Morgan VanderWey and Claire Hennessy each recorded a double-double as VanderWey tallied 20 assists and 14 digs while Hennessy posted 17 assists and 11 digs. Megan Collantes put up 26 digs, and Brittney Tarkanyi added 21 digs for the Belles.
 
The Belles (3-1) are back in action on Friday, September 6 at day one of the MIAA-NCAC Volleyball Crossover Challenge. Saint Mary's opens play against Wooster at 5:00 p.m.
