FREELAND, Mich. - Saint Mary's outside hitters Megan Collantes and Nicole Lukens were both voted as Second Team All-Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association (MIAA) honorees by conference coaches for the 2019 season. Additionally, Collantes was tabbed as the Freshman of the Year for her performance in her first season with the Belles.

Collantes, a native of Santee, California, finished sixth in kills (95) and kills per set (3.39) during the 2019 conference slate of competition. Her .234 attack percentage was the tenth-best among players with at least 100 attempts in conference contests. The freshman was sixth overall in total digs (120) and had the highest number of digs among non-libero/defensive specialist players in MIAA play. Additionally, her 4.29 digs per set average was the seventh-highest overall and had the top mark for non-libero/defensive specialists in 2019. Collantes accounted for 110.0 points in eight MIAA matches for the Belles, which ranked her sixth in the overall standings. Collantes becomes the third Saint Mary's volleyball player in program history to garner MIAA Freshman of the Year accolades.

Lukens, a native of South Bend, Indiana, was fifth in the MIAA in total kills (104) and fourth in kills per set (3.71) over the eight matches played against league opponents this fall. The senior co-captain was tied for seventh overall in total digs (117) and had the second-highest digs per set average among non-libero/defensive specialist players (4.18). Lukens registered 112.0 points in eight MIAA matches this fall, ranking her fifth overall among conference players in the category.

The postseason All-MIAA recognitions are the first of both student-athletes' careers. They are the 17th and 18th volleyball student-athletes in program history to garner All-MIAA accolades. Additionally, it is the eighth time multiple Belles have been on the All-MIAA list in program history (1998, 2003, 2006, 2008, 2013, 2016, 2017).
