FREELAND, Mich. - Senior Monica Davy and sophomore Megan Davy were two of only twelve student-athletes to earn All-Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association (MIAA) honors in women's tennis for the 2019 season.
Monica Davy earned Second Team honors after posting a combined 4-4 record at one doubles and earning three victories against MIAA foes at one singles. The senior co-captain had singles wins t the top flight against Olivet, Adrian, and Alma. All three of those wins came in straight sets as she lost just nine games combined in those matches. It is her fourth All-MIAA honor of her career as she was a First Team selection in 2018 and a Second Team honoree in both 2016 and 2017. She is just the sixth player in program history to garner First or Second Team All-MIAA accolades in each of her four seasons.
Megan Davy repeated on the Second Team after tallying a combined 4-4 record at one doubles and a 6-2 record at two singles in conference competitions. She had straight-set wins in matches against Trine, Olivet, Calvin, Alma, and Albion. She came back from a first-set loss to win in a third-set tiebreaker against Adrian. It is her second All-MIAA accolade of her career.
Additionally, Megan Davy was selected as the 2019 Sue Little Sportsmanship Award winner. She is the fifth Saint Mary's tennis player to earn the award, which is named in honor of the 1954 Albion College graduate. The award has been given annually by the MIAA since 1955.
The pair both earned All-MIAA accolades last season, marking the second time the program has had a pair of sisters earn all-conference accolades in consecutive seasons (Annie and Jeannie Knish, 2001 and 2002). Additionally, Saint Mary's has had at least one member of the program named All-MIAA each season since joining the MIAA in the 1997-98 academic year.
