Susan Holt

Susan Holt, was named the Head Coach of the Saint Mary's Golf program in November 2023, finished her second season at the helm of the Belles before moving into a volunteer assistant role in 2025. Holt would help lead the Belles to back-to-back MIAA Championships and back-to-back NCAA Championship appearances. She would also coach consecutive MIAA Most Valuable Golfers in 2024 and 2025.

Prior to Saint Mary's, Holt served as the head women's golf coach at the University of Notre Dame from 2006 until her retirement in 2022. The Fighting Irish won Big East Championships in 2008, 2011, and 2013 while finishing as runners up in 2007, 2009, and 2012. A three-time Big East Coach of the Year, Holt's squads advanced to NCAA Division I Regionals each spring from 2008 through 2018. The 2011 team became the first in program history to reach the NCAA Finals. Moreover, Holt's tutelage of student-athletes was recognized with individual accolades including:

  • 34 Big East Scholar-Athletes
  • 29 ACC Academic Honor Roll honors
  • 25 All-Big East First Team honors
  • 15 USGA Women's Amateur Participants
  • 10 USGA Women's Amateur Public Links Participants
  • Six USGA Women's Open Participants
Holt was the head women's golf coach at the University of South Florida from 1993 through 2006. She was a three-time Conference USA Coach of the Year (1996, 1999, 2001) and was named Coach of the Decade (1995-2005). Her squads at USF won 17 tournament titles and had 16 runner-up finishes. Holt led the Bulls to Conference USA Championships in 1996, 1998, 1999, 2000, and 2003. The 2001 and 2002 teams became the first teams to advance from the NCAA Regional to NCAA Championship after the format was expanded to the multi-round playoff tournament in place today, and her teams made NCAA Regional appearances in 1994, 1995, 1999, 2000, 2001, 2002, and 2005.

Holt served as the head women's golf coach and teaching professional at Purdue University from 1990 to 1993. Over the span of her collegiate coaching career, Holt coached three student-athletes who went on to compete in the LPGA.

In addition to her head coaching experience, Holt has been active in growing the sport of golf at the community and youth levels. She was a volunteer certified coach with First Tee Tampa Bay from 2000-2006. She has held a similar role with First Tee of Indiana-Michiana since 2014. Additionally, Holt served as a board member of First Tee of Indiana-Michiana from 2014-16.

In her second season (2025), Holt would lead the Belles to five tournament wins including four MIAA Jamboree wins along with an MIAA Championship. The Belles would also compete at the NCAA National Championships for the second straight season, finishing just above the cutline in 17th. She would coach freshman Melanie Maier to an MIAA Most Valuable Golfer campaign while junior Julia Lizak would join Maier on the All-MIAA First Team. Senior Katelyn Tokarz and sophomore Colleen Hand would also be named to the All-MIAA Second Team. The Belles would have three individual champions throughout the season as Maier would win twice and Tokarz would earn a win as well.
 
In her first season (2024), Holt would lead the Belles to five tournament wins inclduing three MIAA Jamboree wins along with an MIAA Championship along with an NCAA National Championships appearance. She would also help lead sophomore Julia Lizak to advance as an individual at the NCAA Championships where she would finish 36th. She would also help lead senior Haley Angel to an MIAA Most Valuable Golfer campaign while Lizak would join her on the All-MIAA First Team. Sophomore Amanda Melling would also be named to the All-MIAA Second team.

Holt holds a bachelor of science degree in recreation education from Ohio State University, where she majored in sports management with a specialization in coaching. She was a four-year member of the Buckeyes golf team, played on two Big Ten Championship teams (1985, 1988), and participated in the 1988 NCAA Women's Golf Championship. Holt was a four-time scholar-athlete at Ohio State.

She has been a member of the Professional Golfers Association of America since 1992.
