NOTRE DAME, Ind. – Saint Mary's College President Katie Conboy along with the Department of Athletics have announced that the 2020-21 basketball schedule has been canceled due to the continuing circumstances surrounding COVID-19. The decision was made after careful consideration with the focus on the health and safety of Saint Mary's student-athletes, coaches, support staff, and the entire College community.

"It is heartbreaking to tell our basketball student-athletes and their coaches that their season is canceled," said Director of Athletics Julie Schroeder-Biek. "We have made similar decisions more than once this year, and it is just as difficult each time we share this news because we know how important the chance to compete is to our Belles. The health and wellbeing of our student-athletes and our whole campus community continues to be our focus, and we know this is the right decision."

Saint Mary's is the first Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association (MIAA) member to cancel a full winter season. The College joins several fellow Division III members from across the country to cancel winter sports competition.
