Keilman, Hettinger Get MIAA Softball Player of the Week Nods

FREELAND, Mich. - Kelsey Keilman (position player) and Mandi Hettinger (pitcher) swept the Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association (MIAA) Softball Player of the Week honors for the week of March 9-15.
 
Keilman, a senior outfielder from South Bend, Indiana, posted a .409 batting average with a .552 on-base percentage and a .682 slugging percentage to lead the Belles in Florida. She had eight RBI, five runs scored, five walks, and was 3-for-3 in stolen base attempts on the week. The senior added a pair of doubles and two triples from the lead-off slot to move into a tie for fifth place all-time in career triples. It is the second MIAA Position Player of the Week honor this season and the third such honor of her career for Keilman.

Hettinger, a sophomore pitcher from Winamac, Indiana, collected three wins with three complete-game efforts, two shutouts, and a save in the pitching circle. The sophomore tallied a 1.93 earned run average on the week over 36.1 innings of work in eight pitching appearances. She helped her own cause by scoring the only run in the bottom of the seventh inning in a 1-0 victory over St. Scholastica. It is the first MIAA Pitcher of the Week honor of the season for the sophomore and the second of her career.
