GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. - Saint Mary's College Tennis fell to Calvin University in the MIAA Semi Finals, 4-1, on Thursday. The Belles finish the season 18-8 while the Knights improve to 10-7.
Doubles
Calvin got out to a quick start, taking wins in the numbers two and three doubles matches to claim the doubles point and abandon the number one match.
Singles
Senior Evelyn Demblans-Dechans (Missoula, MT) took home the first win of the night for Saint Mary's. Demblans-Dechans took home a strong 6-2 6-2 win at the number five singles match. The Knights would take wins in the numbers two, four, and six matches to claim the match victory.
The Belles finish the season with an 18-8 overall record while going 6-2 in MIAA play. This was the program's 13th straight year reaching at least the semi finals in the MIAA Tournament.Â
Demblans-Dechans finishes the season with the most wins on the team with 41. Sophomore Shannon Dudy (Glenview, IL) finished with the second most, 36, while junior Anna Gardner (Houston, TX) finished with 34. Junior Sophia Pischalko (Granger, IN) followed with 33 wins while senior Emma Kealy (Hudson, OH) rounds out the top win totals with 31 wins on the year.
