ALBION, Mich. - Saint Mary's College Tennis earned a sweep of Albion College, 7-0, in their MIAA opening match. The Belles improve to 12-5 (1-0 MIAA) on the year while the Britons fall to 3-7 (0-1 MIAA).
 
Doubles
Saint Mary's easily took control of doubles play, taking all three matches swiftly to take the doubles point and an early lead. Senior Emma Kealy (Hudson, OH) and sophomore Shannon Dudy (Glenview, IL) earned a sweep at the number one match, 6-0. Senior Evelyn Demblans-Dechans (Missoula, MT) and junior Sophia Pischalko (Granger, IN) followed that with a 6-1 win at the number two match. Junior Anna Gardner (Houston, TX) and sophomore Odessa Norton (Carmel, IN) closed out play with a 6-1 win of their own at number three.
 
Singles
Kealy kicked off singles play with a dominating 6-0 6-0 victory to start conference play strong, failing to give up a point in her two matches on the day. Dudy followed that with a strong 6-1 6-1 win at number three before Gardner secured the win for the Belles with a 6-1 6-2 win at number two. The Belles continued their hot stretch as Pischalko earned a strong 6-2 6-0 win at the number five match. Sophomore Lanie Brant (Stevensville, MI) followed that up with a big 6-1 6-0 win of her own at number six before Demblans-Dechans closed the match with an impressive 6-2 6-0 win at number four to sweep the Britons.
 
UP NEXT FOR THE BELLES
Saint Mary's continue their opening MIAA road trip as they head to Alma College on Saturday for a 1pm start. The Belles then return home on Monday, March 30, to host the University of Olivet in their MIAA home opener at 4pm.
