BRIGHTON, Mich. - Saint Mary's College Cross Country freshman
Adelaide Lulich (Canonsburg, PA) takes home MIAA Runner of the Week honor after her historic performance at the MIAA Championships.
Â
She would take home MIAA Most Valuable Runner honors and be named First Team All-MIAA.
Â
Lulich led the field as the individual winner at Saturday's Championships, becoming the first runner in program history to take the individual title at the conference championship. This was the freshman's fourth win of the season as she continues to add on to her record of most wins in a season and career by a Belle.
Â
Lulich finished the race with a time of 21:32.5 which was a personal best time. That time also set the program record for a 6k race, beating out the previous time by almost 16 seconds. Lulich stayed at the front of the pack the majority of the race before pulling away at the end and finishing almost seven seconds ahead of the second place finisher.Â
Â
Lulich becomes the first Belle since 2023 to earn All-MIAA honors and the first since 2016 to be selected to the First Team. She is also the first freshman to earn any All-MIAA honor in program history.
Â
As a team, Saint Mary's finished fourth at the MIAA Championships. This was the highest team finish for the program since 2019.
Â
Lulich and Belles Cross Country shift their focus to the NCAA Division III Great Lakes Regional race on November 14. The race will be held at Forest Akers East in East Lansing, MI.
